Elexon is an independent, not-for-profit organization that manages the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) in Great Britain, ensuring accurate electricity trading, settlement, and imbalance charges. It facilitates the market by balancing electricity supply and demand, implementing half-hourly settlement, and supporting the transition to a flexible, net-zero energy system. Imbalance Pricing ("Cash Out"): Elexon calculates the "system price" for electricity, charging or paying generators and suppliers who are out of balance (not producing/consuming what they contracted) to incentivize grid stability.
